Description

MT9Mxxx – 1.3 MP Camera Sensor on Adapter Board:

The MT9Mxxx – 1.3 MP Camera Sensor on Adapter Board feature the MT9M112 color sensor (B0064) and the MT9M001 monochrome sensor (B0063) from Aptiva. The sensors have a 1/2.0″ optical format, which combined with the pixel size of 5.2 µm x 5.2 µm, results in the 1.3 MP (1280 x 1024) SXGA image. These are rolling shutter sensors, which capture an entire column (or row) simultaneously, and compile the image by scanning across (or down).

IR Filter:

The color sensor and/or lens have an IR-cut filter, so the B0064 module is not suitable for IR photography. However, the monochrome sensor and lens do not have an IR-cut filter, so the B0063 module is suitable for IR photography.

Lens / Mounts:

This adapter board does not offer a lens mount, but uses the stock lens supplied with the sensor. However, MT9M001 – 1.3 MP Camera Module (color and monochrome) are available, with a bundled M12 LS-6020 lens (IR or NoIR) / mount, or simply a 13 mm plastic M12 mount. Also see the MT9M001 – 1.3 MP Camera Sensor.

The key benefit of the standard lens mounts available with the MT9M001 – 1.3 MP Camera Module (not this adapter board) is the simplicity in swapping the lens – fisheye, wide-angle, telephoto, zoom, IR or NoIR filter – all of which are available from DLSCorp. Click on the Camera Lenses product category for the complete selection of ArduCAM lenses. Be sure to verify the compatible lens mount height must include 13 mm for each lens selected. Note: these camera modules use a 22 mm pitch lens mount, which is only available with 13 mm height plastic mount. Click on the Camera Lens Mounts product category for information about lens mounts, including compatibility with the various lenses.

Camera Shields:

In the Arduino world, a “shield” is a piggy-back circuit board that provides additional functionality to the development board. In this context, a camera shield provides the required interface from the camera module to your computer. You may choose to create your own custom-built hardware interface via the 20-pin 0.1″ pitch connector. Or, you will need to purchase one of the available ArduCAM camera shields.

The ArduCAM USB Camera Shields USB2 Rev D (B0095) or USB3 Rev C (B0111) and Parallel Adapter Board (B0126) provide you a USB connection to a Windows, x86 Linux, Nvidia Jetson, or Raspberry Pi computer for these camera modules. You may use the ArduCAM F Shield Rev V2 (B0051) or the ArduCAM LF Shield Rev V2 (B0052) to connect to Arduino system boards. Open-source software and binaries are provided on the ArduCAM GitHub site (see link below) for these shields.
